Springs

(107 products)

Springs decide how your CZ feels and how reliably it runs. The recoil spring controls the slide, the main spring drives the hammer and sets the double action pull, and the small springs in the trigger group decide how crisp the trigger is. Springs also wear out. Replacing them keeps your pistol reliable, and choosing lighter or heavier springs lets you tune it for your ammunition and your discipline. You can choose springs from Eemann Tech, DPM, Toni System, Ascalon Arms, CJ Manufactory, Zendl and KMR.

Springs for your model

Many springs are shared within one pistol family. The Shadow 2, TS 2, CZ 75B and SP-01 use the same recoil springs, main springs and trigger group springs. The P-10C, P-10F and P-10S share most of their springs too. Open the collection for your pistol:

Recoil springs

A weaker recoil spring makes the slide easier to rack and lets the pistol cycle softer ammunition. A stronger one slows the slide and protects the frame with heavy loads. Toni System notes that a weaker recoil spring can shorten the life of the pistol, so match the spring to your ammunition.

  • The Eemann Tech recoil spring calibration pack for the Shadow 2, TS 2, CZ 75B and SP-01 contains four colour coded springs of 9, 10, 11 and 12 lbs. You test them with your ammunition and keep the one that works best.
  • Single recoil springs come from Eemann Tech and Toni System.
  • For the Scorpion Evo 3, Ascalon Arms makes a 125% recoil spring and a complete stronger recoil spring system. They reduce the bolt impact on the receiver.

To check if your recoil spring is worn, you can use the Armanov recoil spring tester.

Recoil reduction systems

DPM recoil reduction systems replace the factory recoil spring and guide rod with a multi-spring rod. They reduce recoil, allow faster follow-up shots and protect the slide and frame. The standard Shadow 2 system includes four external springs, two short ones for heavy ammunition and two long ones for soft and hand loaded ammunition. The external springs range from 6 to 9 lbs, and the total power of the system is 22 lbs. The adjustable versions also include three buffer tubes of different lengths for fine tuning. DPM systems are available for the Shadow 2, Shadow 2 Compact and Carry, TS 2, TS 2 Orange, CZ 75B, SP-01 Shadow, P-01, P-07, P-09, P-09 Nocturne, P-10C, P-10F, P-10S, P-10M, CZ 97 and more. See Recoil reduction springs.

Main springs

The main spring drives the hammer. A lighter main spring makes the double action pull lighter and smoother. The Eemann Tech main spring calibration pack contains five springs of 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13 lbs. Eemann Tech also makes a single competition main spring. A lighter main spring strikes the primer with less force, so always test ignition with your primers before a match.

Trigger group springs

The sear spring, trigger spring and trigger bar spring decide the single action feel. Eemann Tech makes competition versions with 10% or 15% less power than standard, and extreme versions with 10% more power. Zendl and Toni System make lighter trigger springs for the Shadow 2, CZ 75B, SP-01, P-07 and P-09. According to Zendl, a lighter trigger spring is a good choice when you convert a pistol from double action to single action.

For the P-10, Eemann Tech makes competition firing pin and trigger bar springs, and CJ Manufactory and Ascalon Arms make lighter striker springs. Ascalon Arms also makes heavy return springs that make the trigger reset easier to feel, especially with lighter striker springs.

Springs for the Scorpion Evo 3 and Kadet

For the Scorpion Evo 3 and Evo 3+ you can replace every spring separately: recoil, hammer, trigger, disconnector, striking mechanism, firing pin, extractor, ejector and magazine spring. Eemann Tech also makes a complete set of springs and a competition trigger spring kit. Ascalon Arms and CJ Manufactory make lighter trigger spring kits of 4.5 lbs and 5.5 lbs. For the CZ Kadet conversion you can get recoil, firing pin, extractor and magazine springs from Eemann Tech.

Lighter trigger pull for the P-10 and CZ 457

For the P-10, the Ascalon Arms striker spring reduces the trigger pull to about 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs). The CJ Manufactory kit has two springs: the shorter one reduces the pull by about 0.25 kg, the longer one by about 0.5 kg. For the CZ 457, the CJ Manufactory kit reduces the trigger pull down to 0.5 kg. It contains a lighter trigger spring, a 10% stronger hammer spring and a stainless steel indicator.

Safety with lighter springs

Lighter springs change how the safety features of your gun work. Take these notes from the makers seriously:

  • With the Eemann Tech P-10 competition spring kit installed, the trigger safety may not function.
  • CJ Manufactory warns that the lowest trigger pull on the CZ 457 can make the rifle fire by itself, for example when it falls on the ground.
  • A lighter main spring or firing pin spring can cause light strikes with hard primers.

Use competition springs for sport shooting, and test the gun carefully before you load it in a match.

Spring kits

A kit gives you all the springs for one job. The Eemann Tech competition spring kit for the Shadow 2 and SP-01 Shadow contains an 11 lb recoil spring, a 9 lb main spring and competition trigger, firing pin and sear springs. There are also spring kits for the TS 2, P-10, Scorpion Evo 3 and Shadow 2 Kadet. Rifle shooters can get lighter trigger spring kits from CJ Manufactory for the CZ 457, CZ 455, ZKM 452 and CZ 527, 557 and 550.

Small springs and magazine springs

You can also replace extractor, ejector, firing pin, slide stop, magazine catch and safety detent springs. Magazine springs from Eemann Tech fit the 16, 18 and 19 round magazines of the Shadow 2 and CZ 75 family and the TS 2 magazines. For extended base pads, see Base pads.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the springs in my CZ at home?

Yes, most of them. You change a recoil spring when you field strip the pistol, without tools. Trigger group springs need a punch, and Eemann Tech installation tools make the sear and trigger springs easy. See Tools.

Will lighter springs make my CZ less reliable?

It depends on your ammunition. A lighter main spring or firing pin spring strikes the primer with less force. Test your ammunition before a match. If you get light strikes, go back to a stronger spring.

Which recoil spring should I use in my CZ?

It depends on your ammunition. Use a weaker spring for soft loads and a stronger spring for heavy loads. A calibration pack lets you test several weights and choose the one that cycles your ammunition reliably.

Do springs from one CZ model fit another CZ model?

Yes, within the same family. The Shadow 2, TS 2, CZ 75B and SP-01 share most springs. The P-10 models share theirs. The Scorpion Evo 3 and Kadet have their own springs.
