An Optics Ready pistol has a cut in the slide for a red dot. The red dot does not sit directly in the cut. It sits on an Optics Ready plate that connects the slide with the red dot. With the right plate you can mount almost any pistol red dot on your Optics Ready CZ. You can choose from original CZ plates and from plates by Eemann Tech, Evo Arms, Toni System, 2BME, Impact Machine, Outer Impact and Holosun.
Plates for your model
The plates on CZ Parts fit two families of Optics Ready slides:
- CZ Shadow 2 plates fit the CZ Shadow 2 OR, Shadow 2 Orange OR and Shadow 2 Compact.
- CZ P-10 plates fit the P-10C OR, P-10C Ported, P-10F OR in 9x19 and .45 ACP, and P-10S OR.

Choose the plate by the footprint of your red dot
The footprint is the pattern of screws and recoil lugs on the bottom of a red dot. Every plate is made for one footprint, or for several. Find the footprint of your red dot in its specifications, then choose a plate with the same footprint. The footprint is in the name of every plate. The common footprints are:
-
Trijicon RMR: for example the Holosun 507C and 507Comp.
-
Shield RMSc: for example the Shield RMSx and Vortex Defender CCW.
-
Holosun K-series: for example the Holosun 407K, 507K and EPS.
-
Leupold DPP: for example the Leupold Delta Point Pro and Holosun SCS 320.
-
Docter: for example the Noblex NV Sight C and Vector Optics Frenzy 1x17x24.
-
C-More RTS: for example the C-More RTS 3 and Toni System ZR and ZV.
-
Aimpoint Acro: for example the Aimpoint Acro C-1 and P-2.
-
Holosun 509T, Vortex Razor and Aimpoint A-CUT: each for its own red dot family.
The CZ plate for Shield RMSc and Holosun K-series accepts both footprints. Universal plates from Toni System, Outer Impact and Eemann Tech accept two or three footprints each, for example Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP and Docter on the Toni System type A. If you are not sure which red dot you will buy, a universal plate keeps more options open.
How to choose
- Find your pistol in the list of collections above. All plates in one family share the same slide cut, so a Shadow 2 OR plate also fits the Shadow 2 Orange OR and Shadow 2 Compact.
- Find the footprint of your red dot.
- Choose a plate with that footprint, in steel or aluminium.
- Decide if you want iron sights on the plate or tall sights on the slide.
Steel or aluminium
Most plates are steel. CZ, Eemann Tech, Evo Arms, Impact Machine and Holosun make steel plates. Steel is strong and keeps its shape under the force of the slide. The 2BME plates and the universal plates from Toni System, Outer Impact and Eemann Tech are aluminium, which is lighter. The plates are made in the Czech Republic (CZ, Evo Arms), Estonia (Eemann Tech), Italy (Toni System), Poland (2BME) and the US (Impact Machine, Outer Impact, Holosun).
Plates with sights
Impact Machine makes plates for the Shadow 2 OR with sights built in. You can choose a plate with sights or with forward sights for the Trijicon RMR footprint, or the type S plate with sights for the Shield RMSc, Holosun K-series and Leupold DPP footprints. With these plates you have iron sights even when the red dot is off. If you want to shoot your Shadow 2 OR without a red dot, the original CZ cover plate with a height adjustable rear sight closes the cut.
Red dots without a plate
Some red dots fit an Optics Ready cut directly. You can get the Holosun SCS P-10 for the P-10C OR, P-10F OR and P-10S OR, and the Vector Optics Frenzy 1x20x24 for the Shadow 2 OR and Shadow 2 Compact. Both mount without any plate.
Footprint adapters
If you already have a plate or mount and change your red dot, a footprint adapter can save you buying a new plate. The adapter sits between the plate and the red dot and converts one footprint to another. You can choose adapters from Trijicon RMR to Holosun K-series, Holosun 509T, Aimpoint Acro, or Shield RMSc and K-series, from Shield RMSc to Holosun K-series, and from Toni System type A mounts to Aimpoint Acro. Screws are included.
Installation
You can fit a plate at home. You need a screwdriver or a torque driver that fits the screws.
- Unload the pistol.
- Remove the cover plate from the Optics Ready cut.
- Screw the new plate into the cut.
- Screw the red dot onto the plate.
- Tighten the screws to the recommended torque and zero the red dot.
For CZ plate screws the recommended torque is 1.3 Nm. A drop of medium threadlocker on each screw keeps them from loosening. If you lose or damage the original screws, you can buy spare screws for CZ Optics Ready plates on the Shadow 2 and P-10.

Frequently asked questions
Can I install an Optics Ready plate on my CZ at home?
Yes. You need no gunsmith and no milling.
- Remove the cover plate from the Optics Ready cut.
- Screw the plate into the cut.
- Screw the red dot onto the plate.
Tighten the CZ plate screws to 1.3 Nm and put a drop of threadlocker on each screw.
Which red dots will fit my Optics Ready CZ?
It depends on the plate you choose. For the Shadow 2 OR and P-10 OR families you can get plates for the Trijicon RMR, Shield RMSc, Holosun K-series, Leupold DPP, Docter, C-More RTS, Aimpoint Acro and Holosun 509T footprints. Choose your red dot first, find its footprint, then take the plate with the same footprint.
Do I need a plate for every red dot on my Optics Ready CZ?
No. The Holosun SCS P-10 fits the P-10 Optics Ready cut directly, and the Vector Optics Frenzy 1x20x24 fits the Shadow 2 OR directly. Other red dots need a plate with their footprint.
My CZ is Optics Ready. Will red dot mounts fit it?
You do not need a mount. On an Optics Ready CZ the red dot sits on a plate in the slide cut. Red dot mounts are for pistols without an Optics Ready cut.
