Magwells

(37 products)

A magwell is a funnel at the bottom of the pistol grip. It widens the opening for the magazine, so the magazine finds its way in even when your reload is not exact. With a magwell you reload faster, and a heavy magwell also adds weight to the bottom of the grip. You can choose from original CZ magwells and from magwells by Toni System, Eemann Tech, Lok, Boss Components, Strike Industries, Manul and Position 7.

Magwells for your model

A magwell is made for one frame shape, so it fits only the models it was designed for. Some frames are shared. The CZ 75B, CZ 75 SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow take the same magwells, and the Shadow 2 Compact and Shadow 2 Carry share theirs. Open the collection for your pistol:

You can also get a polymer magwell for the CZ Bren 2 from Manul. You find it with other parts for this rifle in CZ Bren 2 accessories.

Materials and weight

The material decides how much weight the magwell adds to your pistol. Weight at the bottom of the grip moves the balance of the pistol down. For a carry gun you will usually prefer a light magwell.

  • Brass magwells are the heaviest. Brass magwells come from CZ, Toni System and Eemann Tech. For example, the Toni System brass magwell for the Shadow 2 weighs 60 g and is 40 mm wide. The Eemann Tech brass magwell for the TS 2 weighs 135 g. On the CZ 75B, SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow you can compare the Toni System brass magwell at 63 g with the Eemann Tech brass magwell at 87 g.
  • Aluminium magwells are lighter. Most of them have a hard anodized finish. CZ, Toni System and Lok make aluminium magwells. For the TS 2 you can choose between the Toni System XL magwell at 30 g and the wider Toni System Open magwell at 45.8 g and 54.8 mm.
  • Polymer magwells are the lightest. You can get polymer magwells from Strike Industries for the P-10F and the Scorpion Evo 3, from Manul for the Bren 2, and from Toni System as part of grip sets for the Shadow 2 Compact and Carry.

The magwells are made in the Czech Republic (CZ, Manul, Position 7), Italy (Toni System), Estonia (Eemann Tech), the US (Lok, Strike Industries) and Australia (Boss Components).

Magwell and grip sets

Some magwells come together with grips. With a set you get grips and a magwell that match in shape and finish. You can choose:

  • Lok Gridlok sets of short grips and a magwell in aluminium or brass for the Shadow 2, Shadow 2 Compact and Carry, and TS 2. They have a palm swell profile and include the installation screws.
  • The Boss Components Palm Swell set of short grips and a magwell from G10 and aluminium for the Shadow 2.
  • Toni System polymer sets for the Shadow 2 Compact and Carry. One set includes grips and a magwell, the other also includes base pads.

For the Scorpion Evo 3 you can get Nexum grips from Manul that are made to work with a magwell.

What else changes with a magwell

A magwell changes the bottom of the grip. Check these points before you order:

  • Base pads. The magazine must pass into the magwell. On the CZ Shadow 2 and CZ 75 family the factory base pads are not compatible with a magwell. You need base pads marked magwell compatible. See Base pads.
  • Grips. Long grips cover the area where the magwell sits. With a magwell you need short grips, or grips marked magwell compatible. See Short grips [with magwell].
  • Main spring plug. On the CZ 75B, CZ 75 SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow, check the main spring plug. If it has a lanyard loop, replace it with a plug without the loop before you fit the magwell.
  • Backstrap. On the CZ P-10C, the size of the CZ magwell matches the size of the installed backstrap. The Strike Industries magwell for the P-10F does not work with the "L" backstrap.

Magwells for rifles

On rifles the magwell guides the magazine into the receiver. For the CZ 457 in .22 LR you can get the Position 7 aluminium magwell kit. It replaces the factory plastic magwell. The kit is CNC machined from 7075 aluminium and includes the magwell, an extended magazine release and an ejector insert. If you only need to replace a damaged part, you can also buy the complete original CZ 457 magwell. For the Scorpion Evo 3 you can choose an aluminium magwell from Toni System or a polymer magwell from Strike Industries.

How to choose

  1. Find the collection for your model in the list above.
  2. Decide on weight. Choose brass for competition and maximum weight, aluminium for less weight, polymer for the lightest option.
  3. Check your grips and base pads. If they are not compatible with a magwell, plan them in the same order, or choose a set.
  4. On the CZ 75B, SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow, check the main spring plug.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need new base pads when I fit a magwell to my CZ?

Yes, on the CZ Shadow 2 and CZ 75 family. Their factory base pads are not compatible with a magwell. Choose base pads marked magwell compatible in Base pads.

Do I need new grips for a magwell on my CZ?

Yes, if your grips are long. Long grips cover the place where the magwell sits. Choose grips from Short grips [with magwell], or a set of grips and a magwell.

What should I check on my CZ before I order a magwell?

It depends on the model.

  1. On the CZ 75B, SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow, check the main spring plug. A plug with a lanyard loop must be replaced with one without the loop.
  2. On the CZ P-10C and P-10F, check which backstrap you use. The size of the magwell must match it.
  3. Check that your base pads and grips are magwell compatible.

Which material should I choose for a magwell on my CZ?

Choose brass if you want the most weight in the grip, for example for competition. Choose aluminium if you want a lighter magwell. Choose polymer if you want the lightest option.
